Your Will:  A Lasting Legacy of Compassion

       A bequest to the GLS Foundation is a wonderful way to express your love for the law as part of your legacy to the world.  Planning through your will enables your goals and dreams to continue beyond your lifetime.

       Without a will, your property will be distributed as outlined by the laws of your state without regard for your personal wishes.  By taking the time to prepare your will, you can secure your right to have your assets passed on according to your own plans.

The GLS Foundation’s Legal Designation

       You can use these words to make a bequest through your will:

I give, devise, and bequeath to the Georgia Legal Services Foundation, federal tax identification number 58-1111590, 104 Marietta Street, Suite 250, Atlanta, Georgia, 30301, the sum of:

$ _____________________________________.

 (or describe the real or personal property or portion of the estate) to be used for its general purposes.

Life Income Gifts

       Charitable life-income gifts allow you to claim charitable tax deductions, avoid capital gains taxes, and increase your income by receiving cash payments while simultaneously supporting the GLS Foundation.

       For information about charitable gifts that feature a life income, asset management and tax benefits (i.e. Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts, and GLS Foundation's Pooled Income Fund), e-mail jburroughs@glsp.org or call Jeanette Burroughs at (404) 463-1611.

       You may wish to contact your attorney or tax advisor before making an outright gift.

Other Planned Gifts

       The tax laws actually favor charitable giving, and substantial tax deductions can be achieved through planned gifts.  Planned gifts can be made through life insurance policies, retirement plans, charitable trusts, and other life-income gifts.
